Graduated with honors from EAFIT University, Juan Manuel is one of the most outstanding Colombian guitarists of his generation. Thanks to his great sensitivity and technical skill, he has been a multiple winner of the Banco de la República's Jóvenes Intérpretes series and has been awarded in several national and international competitions in Colombia, Brazil, Spain, Germany, Albania and Panama.

His work as a performer includes different styles, from Renaissance to contemporary music, and due to his special interest in the Latin American repertoire he completed in 2018 an exchange program at the University of São Paulo in Brazil. He is currently culminating his postgraduate studies as a German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) scholar at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf, Germany under the guidance of Prof. Alexander-Sergei Ramirez.

As a soloist, Juan Manuel has given concerts in Colombia, Brazil, Germany, Spain and Belgium and has played at various guitar festivals, including the IV International Guitar Festival of Espiritu Santo in Vitoria, the "Viva la Guitarra" festival in Düsseldorf and the International Guitar Festival of Medellin.

Juan Manuel has received master classes with important guitarists such as David Russell, Joaquín Clerch, Alvaro Pierri, Ricardo Gallén, Judicaël Perroy, Marcin Dylla, Gabriel Bianco, among others.
